Another 8.4 Million Vehicles Recalled By GM Motors

Another 8.4 million vehicles, 7.6 million in the US, are to be recalled by GM Motors due to possible mechanical defects in their ignition switches and airbags. Congressional hearings have presented information showing evidence that from 2004, a fault with the ignition switch may cause the engine to cut out, and prevent the airbag from deploying. The safety recall actions have cost GM £1.2 billion so far this year, and with accident and injury claimants coming forward, the cost is set to rise as victim compensation is paid out.
