Cars To Detect When You’re Falling Asleep?

Research is taking place at Nottingham Trent University into whether an ECG (electrocardiogram) system could be installed into the driver seat of a vehicle to help prevent accidents. The sensor would be able to detect the heart signals of the driver, and if changes occur that are brought on by tiredness or distraction, a signal would be sent to the in-car system that could sound off an alert or reduce the vehicle speed automatically.
