Hyundai And Kia Agree Record Settlement

Carmakers Hyundai and Kia have been agreed a massive $100 million settlement with US regulators over the consistent exaggeration of the fuel economy in their range of vehicles. In November 2012 the two companies admitted to having overstated the economy of their vehicles fuel range by up to 6 miles per gallon, and as a result, have violated the US’s Clean Air Act. On top of the settled upon payout, the two companies will also be liable for around $200 million in emission credits and $50 million to put in place procedures and systems that prevent mistakes like this happening again.
