The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team – partnered by NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd – has clinched the 2014 FIA Formula One World Constructors Championship*.

The team secured the title when its drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, finished first and second in the inaugural Russian Grand Prix – the ninth time the team has achieved a 1-2 finish this season and its 13th win of 2014.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd supplies MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS with its racing spark plugs and is proud to have helped Mercedes-Benz win its first ever constructors’ title in Formula One.

Marko Wowczyna, Automotive Director, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “We are delighted to have helped the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team achieve this historic landmark and would like to congratulate, not only the drivers, but everyone involved in winning the 2014 FIA Formula One World Constructors’ Championship.

“NGK has a long and successful involvement in F1 and next year will mark the 50th anniversary of our first race victory. F1 is very popular with our customers, many of whom follow the championship race-by-race via the NGK website.”

In Russia, Briton Lewis Hamilton raced to his 31st F1 victory to equal the British record held by Nigel Mansell, closely followed by team-mate Nico Rosberg in second place, with all of the top five finishers being powered by Mercedes-Benz.

The 43-point haul for MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS at the Sochi Autodrom not only clinched the Stuttgart manufacturer’s first Formula One Constructors’ World Championship crown, but also kept Hamilton at the head of the driver standings by 17 points from Rosberg, 291 to 274, with three rounds remaining.
