Former NASCAR champion Tony Stewart was involved in a tragic incident last Saturday that led to the death of a fellow driver on the Darlington Speedway in Darlington, South Carolina. During one of the smaller Sprint Cup races that Stewart takes part in, he and driver Kevin Ward clashed vehicles on a tight corner causing Ward to abandon his race. He was wearing all black, at night, on a very poorly lit track, but obviously angry he then proceeded to exit his car and started to step toward and gesticulate at Stewart’s vehicle as it came back around the corner. Tragically Stewart’s back wheel caught Ward sending him 50ft along the track before coming to a stop, where emergency teams quickly rushed to his aid. Kevin Ward was confirmed as dead on arrival at the hospital, while police say that the investigation into the incident is not of a criminal nature.
